Green Tea Leaf

Green Tea Leaf

Green Tea Leaf, Matcha, or Camellia sinensis

Put the kettle on, it’s time to invigorate the senses - or to reclaim your health with some green tea. The difference between a cup of black tea and green tea is when and how the plant is harvested. For green tea the majority of its nutrients come from the young leaves and leaf buds of the Camellia sinensis plant and the leaves are dried or steamed, not oxidized or fermented like they are for black tea. Once harvested, matcha can be processed, which means the leaves are ground into a fine powder that is then used in tea or food to return the mind and body into an improved state of clarity by boosting brain function.

While there is a small amount of caffeine in green tea, green tea leaves also contain L-Theanine, which helps to counter any jittery or anxiety creating effects of caffeine. Compared to black tea it also has higher levels of the potent antioxidant, Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), that aids the body in fighting off free radicals. Some consider the flavor to be overwhelming, offering an earthy and bold punch - we think this flavor unapologetically represents its powerful effects. We believe that more women showing up as they are, unapologetically, is what the world needs more of. We blend it in our formulas for its health-promoting benefits, but also as a reminder that we need more of the raw, bold, and punchy you.

Evidence based relief and benefits from this superfood:

  • High in flavonoids, a type of antioxidant (one of which is EGCG), which may help to protect cells from damage-causing illness
  • Low caffeine levels could improve brain function such as memory, mental clarity, and focus
  • L-Theanine, which can increase alpha waves and gamma-amino butyric acid (GABA) in the brain - leading to a relaxed mind
  • Green tea leaves are a natural immune system booster helping to keep sick days at bay
